The Erich's in Wrestling starting with Mike
Mike Von Erich is one of the few men in the wrestling family that wrestled alongside his family. Mike stood 6'1 and weighed around 200 pounds. His real name according to sources is Michael (Mike) Adkisson, and his birth date is March 2, 1964. Mike Von Erich is now dead, which his birth year shows he was young when he died. Mike died in 87,' making him 23 when he died. Mike Von Erich was born in Denton , Texas and often used the name Mike Von Erich in the rings. Mike started wrestling in 1983, and was known for his finishing move, the claw.
Mike, the son of Fritz Von Erich, Jack Adkisson (the most popular wrestler in the history of the world of wrestling) Mike was the sixth child, yet he was the survivor of five, since his brother Jack was electrocuted and died at the tender age of six. His surviving brothers at the time, included Kerry, David, Chris, and Kevin. The mother helped train the boys, which took all the Erich boys in the ring. During 83', Mike took on Akbar. Mike was the smaller of the boys; however, it didn't stop him from gaining the PWI Awards for the Rookie of the Year in 84.
While Mike wrestled, another incident befell the Erich's family. David Von Erich while traveling to Japan fell to his death. David was the better wrestler between the two boys, thus after his death Mike strived to win in the rings.
Mike managed to hold four-times the WCCW WSMTT title. Mike took on some wins thereafter, however a few incidents set him back, including injuries, and an attack of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) This attack nearly claimed Mike's life. Mike struggling to recover from the attack never meet the rings again since not long after, Mike overdosed, committing suicide, thus dying. Other members of the family followed pursuit in Mike's fatal occurrence.
Some people believed that the Von Erich (Adkisson) family had a curse. This could be true, since today the only survivor is Kerry Von Erich however I disagree with curses.
Mike's wrestling history included joining with the 6-man Tag Teamsters, which included joining with his cousin and brothers. Mike had some victories from time to time; however, he struggled for the most part to meet his fathers name in wrestling.
Mike filled in one match for Kerry, thus during this bout he took hold of the title, by defeating Hernandez. While his father Fritz was the top dog in wrestling, his boy Mike was obviously struggling hard. What happen to this well-known family? How can an entire family die in a short time? Was it competition that drove them to death, or was it ongoing changes that these poor souls endured throughout their lifetime.
Kerry, while few claim to remain alive after the deaths of his brothers is conflicting at this time, since few reporters claim that Kerry along with Chris committed suicide in the close perimeters of Mike's fatal dismissal.
While the Von Erich's have passed on, their name still lives throughout the channels of wrestling, including Fritz the father of the Von boys. Fritz in fact, apparently had a wrestling title, i.e. the name of the arena was named after Fritz. Fritz also had a name on the football fields, thus he played as a Pro with the Texans of Dallas. Fritz also is the formulator of WCW, i.e. the WCW out of Texas . Fritz took hold of various titles during his years of wrestling, thus it is misfortunate that this talented men had to die horrific deaths after living a struggling life.
